Chilworth Manor Southampton
I love working at Chilworth Manor Southampton as a wedding photographer. The hotel has a multitude of options for dry and wet weather. The grounds are magnificent and there’s awlays something new to find for bride and groom portraits. Inside, the hotel was beginning to need some TLC but since partnering with Great Western, the decor is starting to get updated.
The Lord Selbourne suite is ideal for smaller weddings and leads on to the lawns at the rear of Chilworth Manor. The Coach House is the room used for larger weddings. It is set slightly back from the rest of the hotel in it’s own self contained suite. On first inspection, the pole in the centre of the room can look a little off putting for weddings, but once decorated it is an excellent place to have a wedding cake on display. It’s also particularly useful for the photographer to use during the speeches so as not to block the view of guests!
At the rear of the hotel is a wildlife reserve with a pond and a meadow that is home to some rare insect and flower species. Also, there is a little hiddenwalkway to the front of the hotel that makes for some really nice bride and groom portraits.

Chilworth Manor was a mansion house on the Chilworth Estate. John Willis Fleming rebuilt the house in 1904. The Flemings sold Chilworth Manor in 1947. In 1967 it was sold by British entrepreneur Jock Young’s wife (CEO of “Unity Heating”) – Catherine Ann Young, to Southampton University and converted into a hall of residence. In 1990 it was developed into a Conference and Training Centre. In 2001, AHM, a specialist management company, acquired the property.
