Back in August 2008 I had a phone call from someone sounding extremely friendly but slightly ‘doo-lally’ … if she’s reading this she’ll know what I mean … and I certainly hope won’t be offended. I have turned down weddings before because there’s no ‘connection’ with the couple … but I connected with that ‘doo-lalliness’ straight away and knew this was a wedding I wanted to photograph.

It’s not every day someone is organising a wedding and even more so when there husband-to-be is in far flung foreign seas doing his stuff for mighty Blighty’s Royal Navy expected to return only a couple of days before the day!

With over 70-Christmas parties booked during December I scheduled out the parties I was meant to cover a couple of days before the wedding so I was full of energy and didn’t risk being ‘burned-out’ for Alison & Lee’s photography.

I got to Chilworth Manor quite early and found myself photographing guests from a distance on my long zoom … that I later found out had nothing to do with the wedding! When I got to Alison’s room I was slightly ‘freaked’ to find another photographer with more lenses than Jessops coming out of her camera bag … but she turned out to be a relative into her photography and was willing to give me a tip or two in exchange for a tip or two. Not a problem for me and much better than when ‘Uncle David ‘I’ll direct this one’ Bailey’ turns up at a wedding.

Anyway, Alison and Lee were awesome to photograph and I hope it shows in their images. The wedding was an absolute blast and from an outsiders perspective it was beautiful to see so many people, travelling from all over, intent on celebrating a fantastic couple’s fantastic wedding day!

Hopefully, in a couple of days there’ll be a slideshow of the whole wedding on here to view … if you’re anything like me … you can’t beat a good wedding 🙂

Cold and frosty morning!

As if …

Mum …

No Bride & Groom gets away without a photo with me!
