Sometimes it can be quite a while between a couple hiring me to photograph their wedding and the actual day itself . I knew I was going to remember Lydia because she had the same name as the Nan I never met and had never met anyone with the same gorgeous name before. Gary the groom wasn’t going to be a problem to remember on the day neither as he’s a dapper looking chap and has piercing eyes.
But did I freak out or freak out when on the wedding morning Lydia dropped in to the conversation that Gary’s identical twin brother was best man! Fortunately, different coloured suits helped and the best man didn’t have a wedding ring on.
The ceremony took place at the University of Winchester’s Chapel where the Chaplain made a very cool service replacing the word “love” with “orange” … sounds strange but definitely made you think about everything he was saying. The celebrations were down the road at Winchester Guildhall where I’ve photographed quite a few events but never seen the King Charles suite looking so good.
Lydia and Gary had a fabtastic first dance choreographed to a Jackie Wilson number played by an amazing 11-piece band that absolutely rocked and topped off the entertainment with a rather Funky Photo Booth that filled every page of their guest book.
